Welcome to a new monthly blog post where I highlight one of my inspiring clients. Everyone has their own unique reason for working to improve their health and there is inspiration in every reason, every “why”, and on every path.

Join me in celebrating this month’s client inspiration, Pati.

Pati has recognized the benefits of exercising for her health and wellbeing for years but she’s never actually enjoyed working out. In Pati’s own words, “I’ve always pretty much hated it, or saw it as a “must do” or a “dreaded chore.” Hence, I fought it every step of the way.”

I don’t think Pati is alone in feeling this way. In an age where our schedules are packed and we have more responsibilities than hours in a day, the thought of working out can feel like just another task to check off the list, and when it feels like that, it can also be easily scratched off or even completely removed from the list. Can you agree?

Pati and I met back in 2016 at the yoga studio I attended and started teaching at after I completed my yoga teacher training (Crescent Moon Yoga in Scottsdale, AZ). She had finally found movement she enjoyed in the yoga studio and attended several classes a week including the classes I led.

At that time, Pati recognized she needed something else in addition to yoga to keep her body strong and healthy. She knew I was also a personal trainer and reached out to me to see what working together one-on-one would look like.

And here we are, 7 years into our trainer/client relationship…and friendship.

“I started working with Nicole many years ago, now, working out via Skype 2-3 times a week. She provides me with varied strength, cardio, balance, and flexibility exercises that keep me motivated. I really look forward to our time together and hate it when I have to miss a session.”

Today, Pati has a new outlook on exercising and working out compared to the chore it was many years ago. She sees and feels the results of being consistent with her movement and has now adopted it as part of her healthy lifestyle.

“I’m almost 69 and have good genes I guess, because I’m still very healthy. I want to stay this way so I can stay involved in the things I love (being a Docent at the Phoenix Art Museum and traveling) and being there for my family members as they age.”

I can’t think of a better reason to make health a priority – caring for your loved ones. When you prioritize your health and wellbeing, it doesn’t only improve your quality of life, it improves the quality of life of those around you…your family…your loved ones whom you care for.

Since the start of NickiFit A to Z, it has been my mission to make getting fit and healthy more accessible and sustainable for women. The constant influx of health and fitness advice flooding our inbox and media feeds can be overwhelming and often so generalized that it rarely gets to the heart of what women need and want.

Accessibility is one thing that Pati valued over the years when it comes to being able to stay consistent with fitness program.

“I don’t have to dress up and drive to the gym. It’s a one-on-one workout customized to ME. I can see and feel the improvements over the years. Because of this, I have fallen in love with exercising, a miracle by anyone’s standards!”

Today I want to celebrate Pati and her commitment to herself and to her family for prioritizing her health and wellbeing. It’s certainly not the easiest choice but it’s a choice that offers the biggest return on your investment…a long, fulfilling life. Every week, Pati show’s up for herself. She’s remained consistent through injury and illness, and pushes herself to new limits.

“Nicole always varies our workouts to keep me from getting bored, which has always been my biggest issue. If I have an injury, she adjusts the movements. If I’m not feeling very energetic, she slows it down a bit. Just one example, when I have one of my regular bouts of vertigo which keeps me from getting on the floor, she adjusts all of our floor work to chair/ball work.”

It has been an honor to support Pati in living her best life by staying active and living life on her terms. She is an inspiration to me, and I hope an inspiration to you too.

About NickiFit

Since 2014, when NickiFit A to Z began, it has been my mission to make fitness accessible to all women. Many women feel uncomfortable in a standard gym setting. Many women have had horrible experiences with past trainers who did not provide the level of care they needed. I meet clients where they are at. I recognize that not everyone is comfortable in a gym or working out in groups so I coach clients in the comfort of their own home. I guide women through efficient, effective at home workouts and help them adjust their nutrition and their habits to support the life they want to live.
